He looked to the cane that hit his foot, before returning his gaze to his bewildered friend. Swallowing thickly, he tried to find the least confusing way to explain, but then Ignis was reaching for his shoulder. He stayed still, letting the other man grasp him, so he could 'see' for himself he was truly here.

"When I got absorbed into the crystal, I was informed of what I have to do--to defeat Ardyn and purge our star of the scourge he's bringing..." He paused a moment, thinking over his words carefully.

"Within it was Bahamut, and he sent me forward in time to see what the future I would bring with my sacrifice--I guess to convince me to do what must be done."

Which sounded ridiculous, and perhaps a little tellingly weak that he needed such a stout reassurance to do his noble role. Had he told Gladio, he was certain he would scold him, yell and shout at him for not being the king he should be.

Ignis, however, was a willing ear, and while he nagged, he was also understanding and patient. He always had been, and he figured now wouldn't be any different.
